Weird column shifter

I'm new to the 3 rd gen traverse and i've never used the column shifter so there's a little thing thats buggin me. when putting it in drive it seems like theres too much spring action going on and it goes up in reverse. It doesn't happen too often but enough to bother me a bit. Is this a problem with mine or its a normal thing with these models?

Oh, i get what you mean! i have no serious issues with it however it does get annoying sometimes. have u tried checking this w the dealer?

From the little I know, the column shifter should have a firm but controlled movement, it shouldn't easily slip past Drive into Reverse. It might just be something to get used to, but if it happens often, you might want to have it checked out though

Aah, this could be an issue with the shifter or the detents aren't lining up well. This is potentially dangerous if you let it slide so I agree with @mallows25 & @fairlyoddparent get it checked ASAP!

@DeLorean: honestly if your shifter's spring action is throwing you into reverse sometimes that's definitely not something to brush off because while it could just be an adjustment issue with the mechanism it might also hint at a bigger problem like alignment or even wear on the internal components @tennesseewhiskey is right get it checked asap before it surprises you at the wrong moment also does this happen only when you're shifting quickly or does it happen even with slow deliberate movements knowing that might help narrow down the cause for the dealer.

Agree with this. Something must be off with your shifter. Either the mechanisms itself, interlock, or the cable! If not that then transmission is next to check.

That's weird. I never had that experience with my 3rd gen. You need to get it checked ASAP because anything related to transmission & shifting worries me SO MUCH.
