Clean camera setup for my ride

I just picked up a 2024 Traverse and I'm looking to add a camera, the OEM's about $700, which I'm cool with, so I am thinking of ordering from Jeff B., but messy wires drive me nuts, anyone got clean install pics or tips that worked?

Great choice on the Traverse! If you're using Jeff B's setup, the cleanest way to do it is to run the wire behind the headliner, down the A-pillar, and then thru the factory rubber boot into the hatch. Using a nylon puller or fish tape really helps make it easier.

You can tap into the power from the reverse light and zip-tie everythin along the factory harnesses to keep it neat.

Are you going with just a rear camera or are you planning to set up both front and rear?

I am just planning for a rear cam for now,keeping it simple...I appreciate the tip on the factory boot, do you have any trick to avoid messing with airbags when routing through the A-pillar?

Wiring the OEM rear camera is usually pretty straightforward and it's typically a perfect fit. You don't need to worry about getting anywhere near the actual airbag itself! The airbag is usually tucked up pretty high and out of the way. When you're routing the cable down the A-pillar, the key is to stay on the front, windshield-facing side of the pillar trim and the airbag module. There should be a natural channel or a small gap between the trim piece and the vehicle's frame. You're basically just tucking the wire into that space and keeping it away from any clips or the airbag itself. The trim piece will snap back on and hold the wire securely. There are also usually some factory wire looms already there that you can follow. Just take your time and don't force anything, you'll be fine!

Totally agree! Running the wires along the side of the windshield and utilizing the existing gaps makes for a tidy and safe installation, all while keeping the airbags free from obstruction

Thanks for the tips! I'm planning to add an OEM cam to my '09 Malibu, thinking of doing a full stereo and dash upgrade too. When you ran the wire down the A-pillar, did you need to remove the lower kick panel or just the top trim?
