Why does the rear wiper always do one swipe?

I don't have a Traverse myself, but my neighbor just got one and brought up something pretty odd. Whenever they start their car, the rear wiper makes a single swipe, even if it's dry outside and they didn't leave it on.

I'm not sure if this happens with all the same models. I checked out a few other GM SUVs, like the Enclave and Blazer, and they don't seem to have this issue.

Does anyone know what's going on with the Traverse? Is it just a quirky feature, or is there a way to change it in the settings? I'd love to hear if other owners have noticed this too

That does sound weird, but it might just be a built in quirk with the Traverse, some cars do a rear wiper swipe at startup if the front wipers were used before shutting off. Its not something i've seen on other GM SUVs, so it could be specific to that model. Might be worth checking the settings, but it could just be how it's programmed. Would be real interesting to hear if other owners are seeing the same thing.
